The Fro Yo Explosion!

Share

This is not your 80's Frozen Yogurt, nor is it the product we saw explode in suburban malls in the 90's, but this is Menchie's - the second (or is that third) coming. A real product, made with real ingredients, and now taking up residence in my neighbourhood. The great thing about Menchie's is it is owned by a local family, supporting local business, and even though the concept comes from California it is truly homegrown.

A bunch of food bloggers were invited down to the store on Bloor Street in Toronto, to compete at Blogurt fest. An opportunity to check out the store, enjoy some yogurt, and a little "healthy" competition. We all got to try out the product, and make our own custom mixes to be judged on various criteria. What a great and fun event arranged by our good friend Mary Luz from Sizzling Communications! I got to see a lot of friends, and even make some new ones and a good time was had by all.

Im happy to welcome Menchie's to the neighbourhood, and am so pleased that they seem to be a big hit, even with the onset of the colder weather. The concept is great for not only little kids, but big kids like you and I. Pick your flavour (18 on tap at any given time), toppings (candy, chocolate, fruit, etc. over 40 in total), and sauces (5 to choose from), then weigh, pay, and enjoy. All of the recipes have been created by the local team to suit our Canadian palates, and next week they will be launching Ginger Bread and Candy Cane. You know I am so down with that!

Also, Menchie's uses real milk from Canadian dairy farmers, which is another reason to support them. Not chemical laden, fake powdered mixes, real goodness with healthful live and active cultures. Check them out soon to satisfy your frozen cravings!

Nice one Joel - I never would have expected you to healthify yourself like that haha! No bacon bits?

I've been trying to switch over to organic, or at least to stay away from processed, powder, frozen, canned...blah blah (not successfully, might I add)...but this place will definitely make the switch worth it!

I wish they would post ingredients somewhere, though. Are the flavours all-natural or what? What about the colours?
