Cake Star
People of the Westend rejoice, because you now have a place to get cakeart. Yes, that’s a thing. You have seen the shows on Food Network, and if you are lucky you have experienced something like this in person. Some times it looks better than it tastes, but your new westend bakery is legit. Cake Star has arrived, and these two sisters have a serious baking pedigree with flour and sugar running through their veins.
Monja and Barbara recently opened their storefront on Lakeshore in Long Branch, but their training comes from the depths of Scarborough, where their dad has been running the family bakery, Bona Via, for many moons. You can trust when you visit Cake Star that their cannolis are good, and the other treats are just as tasty.
Recently a bunch of us were invited out to an opening at the bakery, and to have a chance to have some fun in the kitchen with the ladies. Barbara’s husband Carm was there as well with some food for us to nosh on from his restaurant The Big Ragu. A great chef and singer, Carm is a great guy and you should check his place out for dinner some time: http://thebigragu.com/.
We filled cannolis, decorated cake pops, ate and laughed, it was a fun night, and they are a great family. For walk in they have treats available to grab and go, and cakes are pre-order. Oh, and also they will be featured as the resident cake experts on the Steven and Chris show, too cool.
Keep up the good work ladies, and I can’t wait for another opportunity to indulge in your treats.
